Jose Luis Cordeiro is a futurist, economist, and engineer born on February 11, 1962, in Caracas, Venezuela. He is known for his work on emerging technologies, exponential growth, and future trends. He earned degrees in mechanical engineering and economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a master's in science from the Tokyo Institute of Technology. Cordeiro is a founding faculty member of Singularity University, where he teaches on the impact of technology on society.
Additionally, Cordeiro has published books on the future of technology and globalization, including "The Great Taboo: Money and Life" and "La Segunda Muerte de la Muerte" ("The Second Death of Death"), for which he received the 2013 Isaac Asimov Science Award. He has given lectures and participated in conferences worldwide on the impact of technology on society, and he is a regular contributor to the World Economic Forum's annual meetings. Cordeiro is also a member of the advisory board of the Lifeboat Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on advancing technology to safeguard humanity.
